Still thinking…

… about getting a degree online. I am not sure how I could possibly afford it right now with hubby laid off work for God knows how long and us trying to live on his unemployment plus the little I rake in every month but somehow that seed got planted and I find myself thinking about it quite a bit as of late. Maybe it’s my feeling that I have to be more productive or something? I don’t know. I have always wanted to get another degree. Most people who know me don’t even know that I have one under my belt – but it’s something my Mom pushed on me and it was never my dream – it was hers. I do not; nor do I ever wish to work in that field again. I’m a chef – I earned my degree at age 17 at a german culinary school. Blah. Again, if I could choose any online degree it would be in nursing. It’s something I have always wanted to do. I find myself browsing school that offer online degrees. reason being I don’t drive at the moment. Plus we currently only have one vehicle so it would be pointless to consider anything other than an online degree. I did come across one that offers financial aid to most. But qualifying is another task. I’m not sure I would qualify. We keep getting told that hubby makes too much for this and that when in fact his pay is never enough *lol* how is that for idiodicy? Western Governors Online University has lots to offer though – that’s the school I most recently browsed online and I am intrigued and some of their programs. Not only that – I think our niece who has been trying to finish getting her degree in teaching would love this info as well – so I am going to send her the url. Maybe she can get an online teaching degree instead of pushing up her return to our local college?! She has been trying to finsih hers for about 5 years now. Insane. But she has 2 boys and they are her world so she puts getting her degree on hold to spend time with her family. Bless her! I am not quite sure what she is after but WGU offers everything from early childhood education to science to special ed. She could learn and study at home while still being there for her family. WGU’s online teaching degree programs are nationally, regionally, and NCATE accredited and she may even be able to transfer her credits. She’d have to find out but their website states that most states participate.

Amazing what one finds browsing the web, eh? Here I am trying to make life work with what I got and thinking about advancing myself and I happen to find a online school for a family member! *lol*
