… to becoming a non smoker that is. Not many know how heavy a smoker I used to be. I was up to 30 cigarettes just a little over a week ago. The reason I say “used to be” is because in this last week – with the help of an electronic cigarette I was able to reduce my habit of 30 cigarettes a day; down to 3 cigarettes a day.

I was the lucky recipent of a starter kit from Premium E Cigarette (dot com) and let me tell you it’s been a blessing! I am super amazed at this product because truth be told, I did not think it would work. I have tried just about everything else over the last two years and failed miserably! I had been wanting to purchase and try electronic cigarette but the price of a starter kit kind of scared me off. I wasn’t sure if it would work and spending 100$ – which was the price I had seen for most e-cigs - on top of spending my money on my regular smoking habit was just not feasable. Boy, was I ever wrong! I have already saved lots by using this electronic cigarette for over a week! The refill cartridges are amazingly affordable at $12.50 for a pack of 5. Now 1 cartridge is comparable to one pack of cigarettes.

Here is the breakdown:

5 cartridges which equal out to 5 packs of cigarettes= $12.50

5 packs of cigarettes (premium) in my home state of CT = $42.80

Now that is some serious savings there! And given our current situation – I am super happy to be saving that much, trust me!

But it’s not just about saving some money for me. It’s about becoming a non smoker and with this electronic cigarette I finally feel as though it’s a possibility for me. I can already feel a change in my breathing – I no longer have the raspyness and wheezing and I can actually take a deep breath now without coughing. And remember it’s only been just a little over a week. My cough is basically gone and I no longer wake myself up coughing in the middle of the night either – which makes for a better nights sleep. I honestly did not think I would see changes this quick but I am and I am loving it because it makes me want to become a non smoker even more.

Scottie has tried the e-cig and likes it. I am not sure if he is ready to quit just yet but I told him that when he is – I will get him a starter kit. All he has to do is say the word and I will zip online and grab him one. I do know in my heart that he is almost there. His coughing is bad. And he sees the benefits of switching in me. I think the cold turkey thing scares him most and he sees that with this – he would not have to go at it cold turkey – he could wean off just like I am doing.

I will keep on with this and even set myself a date. I want to be a non smoker by my 36th birthday which is coming up in April. I know I can do this.
